Dr. Eddia Solas holds a PhD in chemistry; an M.Ed in Science Education from the University of the West Indies, and a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Toronto. Her particular interest is Science Education, unveiling challenges students face in learning science, incorporating methodologies that facilitate learning, and addressing reasons for Black students' underrepresentation in STEM subjects. As her scholarship demonstrates, transforming both teaching practice and pedagogical paradigms to reflect the African Canadian heritage and experience are particularly crucial in addressing the needs of Black students in science education.
