Dr. Christopher Dixon

Director, Business Development, Mitacs

As a Business Development Director at Mitacs, Chris helps to connect academic researchers with businesses, municipalities, and hospitals looking to collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects. Mitacs provides funding for these collaborative initiatives by leveraging funding contributed by the non-academic partner to provide a grant to the academic researcher. Chris also works closely with the Indigenous, Black, Engineering, & Technology (IBET) PhD Project to increase the representation of Indigenous and Black researchers in the academic landscape across Canada. Chris grew up in Pickering, Ontario before moving to Michigan where he received a BSc in Chemistry from Adrian College. Chris then received a PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Toronto where he wrote his doctoral thesis on using microfluidics to diagnose infectious diseases.
