Dr. Isaac Odame
Professor and Alexandra Yeo Chair in Haematology at University of Toronto
& Medical Director - of the Global Sickle Cell Disease Network
Dr. Isaac Odame is the Hematology Section Head, Division of Hematology/Oncology and member of the Centre for Global Child Health, SickKids, Toronto. He is Professor and Director of the Division of Adult and Pediatric Hematology in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, University of Toronto. He holds the Alexandra Yeo Chair in Hematology in the University of Toronto. Currently, Odame is the Medical Director of the Global Sickle Cell Disease Network based at the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health that is building enduring collaborations between clinicians/scientists worldwide to further research and advance care of patients, particularly in LMICs with heaviest disease burden. The focus of Odame’s clinical care and research are patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) and thalassemia. Odame was instrumental in the design and implementation of universal newborn screening for SCD in Ontario. He is actively involved in clinical studies of novel therapies for patients with hemoglobinopathies.
